Our holistic approach to sustainability begins right on our own doorstep. We are committed to supporting biodiversity and run various campaigns to collect recyclable materials for good causes. The company intranet blog presents information on sustainability topics and benefits for our employees, such as bike leasing and e-bike charging stations. Employees can also find out which climate targets we have set ourselves, what is behind our safe contact system and how they can use it if necessary.

“In addition to our activities in the supply chain, we also organise projects, both large and small, at our headquarters. For example, the collection boxes show that change is possible and that good can be done even in small ways. They help to raise awareness for resource scarcity and the importance of recycling, whilst also supporting various projects. The worry specialists, lovingly made by trainees in our local sample production, can be so much more than a simple cuddly toy for children. Something so little can have a big impact.”

Climate protection & carbon offsets

We also champion environmental issues at our headquarters. Climate protection is a key element of our non-commercial activities. We have been calculating CO2 emissions at the Quakenbrück site for several years so we know our corporate carbon footprint and the scale of our emissions and can use these to set policies for reducing both.

However, as completely emission-free business operations are not currently possible, we offset a portion of the emissions we cause and are involved in climate protection projects.

Extreme heatwaves, droughts and storms have increased significantly in Germany and around the world in recent years. The rise in extreme weather has cost many people around the world their homes or even their lives. Events like this make us painfully aware of the consequences of climate change. But they will not stop at our doorstep and we will all have to bear the economic and social consequences. A swift response is needed, so we as a company and each of us as individuals must contribute to limiting global warming as quickly as possible.”

Science-based climate targets

In order to play our part in limiting global warming in the long term, we are a member of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and committed ourselves to science-based climate protection targets in 2022. These Science Based Targets (SBTs) specify a company’s reduction goals on the basis of the Paris ClimateAgreement. For us, this means making a 46% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 compared to the baseline year of 2019. This is our way of contributing to limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Detailed information on our carbon footprint and our measures for reducing emissions and protecting the climate can be found in our Sustainability Report.
